Promote Your Mind-Body Connection

What is Walk and Talk Therapy?

Walk-and-talk therapy is a rapidly growing practice where therapist and client take sessions outside and walk side-by-side among nature. Walk-and-talk therapists believe in the combined therapeutic benefits of talk therapy combined with physical activity and time spent in natural settings.

What are the Benefits of Walk and Talk Therapy?

Walk-and-talk therapists believe in the combined therapeutic benefits of talk therapy combined with physical activity and time spent in natural settings. Individuals who engage in physical activity and time in nature report improvements in mood, clearer thinking, and increased creativity. Clients report feeling like their conversation flows more easily while walking side-by-side with their therapist, and it is less intimidating than sitting face-to-face in an office setting.

I personally love being outside, especially in gorgeous Hilton Head Island and I know that it is difficult for busy individuals to prioritize getting outside throughout the day. I see this as a unique opportunity to improve physical and mental wellness, while enjoying the beauty of the low country.

Considerations Regarding Walk and Talk Therapy

Privacy is paramount in therapy, and when you’re walking and talking outside, there is naturally less privacy than in a therapy room/Zoom room. I do everything in my power to keep our sessions private even while out walking, but it’s something to consider.

Insurance: I am an in network provider for Aetna.

I am an out of network provider for all other insurance carriers, so I do not bill insurance directly. I can provide a receipt of therapy services for you to file with your insurance for possible reimbursement. However, I encourage you to call your insurance provider first to see if you have coverage for my services on your plan.

Scheduling and Availability: I have specific slots available for ongoing, weekly or bi-weekly appointments. Contact me with your preferred days and times, and I will get back to you ASAP with my current availability.

Length of Therapy: There is no rule to determine how long our time together will last. My clients end therapy on their own terms when they feel confident that they are ready to move on. I tend to see folks over an extended period of time, beginning with weekly appointments and tapering sessions down from there. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹
