online therapy throughout South carolinaAnxious Attachment Therapy in Hilton Head Island, SC
Hilton Head has a particular kind of energy. It attracts women who are capable, accomplished, and used to being the one who makes things work, and that same competence can make it harder to ask for help, or even to name what's wrong. From the outside, life here can look idyllic. Privately, a lot of women are carrying anxiety, relationship stress, or old wounds that don't care how beautiful your surroundings are.
Many of the women I work with on Hilton Head are in their mid 20s through early 40s — some navigating major life transitions like a move, a relationship shift, or figuring out what they actually want now that certain chapters have closed. Others are in longer-standing patterns: the anxious overthinking after every conversation, the people-pleasing that leaves them drained, or the low hum of self-doubt that never fully quiets.
I offer both online therapy and walk-and-talk sessions specifically for clients on the island. For women who find it easier to open up while moving on a beach path or along the lagoon trails, walk-and-talk can make the work feel more natural and less clinical. It combines the rhythm of being outside with real, meaningful therapeutic work. We'd figure out together which format fits you best.
Therapy for Women on Hilton Head Who Are Tired of Holding It All Together
is this you?→ Feeling insecure or nervous in relationships and constantly replaying interactions in your mind.
→ Worrying that your needs or emotions are “too much” for others.
→ Struggling to assert yourself or saying yes when you really mean no.
→ Perfectionism or self-criticism affecting your confidence, work, or relationships.
→ Repeating patterns with partners who are emotionally unavailable or distant.
→ The impact of growing up with a narcissistic or emotionally immature parent still affecting your adult life.
If so, you’re not alone — and these patterns are more common than you might think.
What Brings Women on Hilton Head to Therapy
The women I work with here don't usually arrive in crisis. More often, they arrive at a point of recognition that a pattern they've been managing for years has quietly cost them more than they realized. Maybe it's the relationship they keep pouring into, but find it doesn’t meet their needs. The friendship where they do all the emotional labor. The way they can feel completely fine in one moment and then overwhelmed with anxiety by a single look or text.
Some are processing what it meant to grow up with a mother or father who put their own needs first; who was critical, emotionally unpredictable, or simply never really present in the ways that counted. That kind of upbringing doesn't make you broken, but it does shape how you show up in relationships, and it's worth understanding if you've ever wondered why you work so hard for love or approval that never quite feels like enough.
For women who've recently relocated to the Lowcountry or who are in the middle of a bigger life transition, therapy can also be a space to figure out who you are in this new chapter and what you truly want.

Walk-and-talk therapy is an in-person format where we meet outside and hold our session while walking, rather than sitting face-to-face on a screen. A lot of women find that movement makes it easier to access things that feel harder to say when you're sitting still; there's less eye-contact pressure, being in nature tends to reduce stress, and there's something about physically moving forward that can mirror the feeling of making progress.
It's especially helpful for women who process better when they're not feeling put on the spot. That said, it's not for every session or every person, some conversations benefit from more containment. We'd discuss whether it's a good fit during our consultation, and you can always switch between formats as we go.
Walk-and-talk sessions are available for Hilton Head Island clients specifically. All other sessions take place via secure video.

There is no rule to determine how long our time together will last. My clients end therapy on their own terms when they feel confident that they are ready to move on. I tend to see folks over an extended period of time, beginning with weekly or bi-weekly appointments and tapering sessions down from there.
